The SAT is a standardised undergraduate university entrance test managed by College Board. The SAT test is used to check university preparedness and predict the likely future academic success of a student looking for admission to undergraduate programs at various educational universities abroad. 

Students looking to enrol in the undergraduate programs in the US or any other country go for SAT exams. Most of the colleges require the SAT score for admission in undergraduate courses. Additionally, many institutions also offer SAT scholarship money to the candidate depending upon their SAT score results.

SAT exam analyses the Mathematical, Writing and Critical Reading skills of the candidates. According to the College Board, they check the skills learned by which candidates in their schools days. They measure the ability which is required for the academic success of the students in higher education.

The College Board have not prescribed any specific SAT eligibility criteria, candidates aged between 17-18 years usually take the sat exam for getting admission into colleges for undergraduate education, In other words, high school students choose to take SAT exam.
